Meet Tim Faircloth

Many ‘about me’ pages begin with how they always wanted to be in their chosen profession since they were young ... well that’s not my story. I had no idea that I was destined to become immersed in cruise travel until it happened. It seems this ‘cruising life’ chose me, rather than the opposite.

My career journey has essentially been a creative one in Photography, Advertising, Graphic Design and even Television Production - creating a popular TV series for the 7 Network, since completing my studies at the School of Visual Art (SVA).

However, throughout my life, stepping aboard a cruise ship and setting sail to fascinating destinations the world over has always been a constant. It’s where I feel at home and these travels have etched in my soul so many memories from early childhood, cruising with my rather adventurous parents.

Those that cruise would understand. Cruising is not just a means of transport or simply a holiday. It’s more symbolic than that. There’s just something about boarding a ship on embarkation day that fires up the senses and rewards that relentless yearning for adventure with the anticipation of uncharted horizons.

A little over the top ? .... well perhaps, however with some 89 + cruises all over the globe now sailed and thousands of ocean based experiences embedded in my spirit, I feel my nickname of ‘Skipper’ is a pretty authentic appellation.

In 2014, opportunity presented itself to channel all that deep understanding of shipboard life and cruise port geography into establishing a creative cruise travel career built on unrivalled passion and industry knowledge.

So now, am I living the dream ? …  You bet I am !

There comes a point in your life where you know “this feels right” and it’s even better if what you’re offering the world is both self fulfilling and receives the most gratitude from others. That’s when you’ve really hit the work life jackpot.

Tim.
